It isn't Over Until it's Over!

Amid a blessing by Archbishop Patrick Flores and the singing of the national anthem by Tejano singer Patsy Torres, the University held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Math, Science and Engineering complex last May.

When completed, the building will be an addition to the university's existing science facility, which was originally constructed in 1950 and occupies an area of 41,379 sq. ft. The new building will have five levels and provide an additional 36,000 sq. ft. of space adjacent to the existing facility.

The complex will house the latest technology and provide space for teaching and research labs for Chemistry and Biology. The project will include two phases; the second will include a $3.5 million renovation to the existing building. The good news is that we have so far raised $12,546,700, or almost 90% of the needed $14 million for the project and with just a little more effort and support we will be there.

McChesney Architects, a local firm that has developed a majority of the building projects at the university over the last 15 years, will construct the new facility. The building and renovation projects are slated for completion in 2006.

Gifts are still needed for this campaign, and special opportunities exist for naming chairs and rooms in the new facility in honor of or in memory of someone. Don't wait until the campaign is over and the Center open to do something you want to do now.
