A COMMUNITY UNITED: President Evans’ inauguration festivities included special events celebrating the “Word in Action.”

Academic Colloquium

Faculty members gathered to discuss what makes UIW unified. Moderated by Dr. Paul Lewis, chair of the Department of Philosophy, educators shared their experiences and discovered ways they can work together guided by the Mission.

Faculty sat in concentric circles to better participate in the discussion.

Many members of the faculty shared their favorite memories, personal goals and hopes for their students.

The event offered an opportunity to discover shared values and how each lives the UIW way.

Community Picnic

Staff, students, faculty and friends joined President Evans for this kickoff to the inaugural festivities. Guests enjoyed live music, a picnic lunch, icy treats and fellowship in this first event designed to draw the UIW community together.

The sunny day was a warm welcome for the inaugural events to come.

Students and staff alike took time out from a busy spring schedule for the mid-day fun.

The live music brought faculty to the dance floor.

Day of Service

Members of the UIW community put the Word into action by donating their time, talents and hard work to charitable and social good initiatives both on the UIW campus and locations throughout San Antonio.

Student athletes, administrators and representatives from the Department of Student Success painted over a vandalized building.

Volunteers counted change for charity, among a number of other activities on and off campus.

Students rolled up their sleeves to beautify gardens all over San Antonio.
