After a six-month process, UIW’s Multicultural Greek Council approved the expansion of Omega Psi Phi, a historically black fraternity, to campus. Omega Psi Phi held an “interest meeting” in April to inform the community about the fraternity and the process of obtaining membership. Through community service, the fraternity will focus on aiding “downtrodden humanity” and partner with the Multicultural Greek Council to impact campus in a positive way. Omega Psi Phi, whose motto is “Friendship is Essential to the Soul,” was founded at Howard University in Washington, DC, in 1911.
