As of May 31, the Kathleen Watson Enrollment Center, located on Broadway directly across from main campus, was no longer UIW property. The building originally housed the Office of Admissions, Office of Human Resources, Center for Veterans Affairs, and Office of Research and Graduate Studies, among others; those departments have moved to various locations throughout campus (visit www.uiw.edu to view a campus map). UIW’s new residence hall, located on Burr Rd., has been named the Watson Lofts in memory of Kathleen Martin Watson.
A member of the Incarnate Word community since childhood, Watson was a trustee of UIW where she served as board chair from 1996-1999. She was awarded an honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters in 1999. Watson was a tremendous supporter of UIW and the university’s Mission. In particular, she was instrumental in transforming The Cutting Edge™ Fiesta® Fashion Show into today’s successful event. Watson’s commitment to education enriched the lives of the UIW community, and countless students benefited from her dedication to making quality Catholic education accessible to the residents of San Antonio.
