UIW has set another enrollment record, surpassing the 9,500-mark for the first time in its 132-year history. The university’s global enrollment reached 9,597 students, a 4.5 percent increase from last year. That figure includes more than 600 freshmen students and over 900 students at UIW’s academic site in Mexico City, Mexico. The enrollment has now increased 27 out of the last 28 years.

The University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) welcomed 950 freshmen for the 2013-2014 school year and approximately 500 to residence halls on campus. Many of the students arrived on Aug. 15 for Freshman Move-in Day. Members of the UIW community including faculty and staff were on-hand to meet and greet new students as they arrived and assist them with the move-in process.

Campus Life and Residence Life hosted a New Student BBQ where incoming students enjoyed refreshments and had an opportunity to meet with fellow Cardinals. Later that evening, a Pinning Ceremony was held at the Alice P. McDermott Convocation Center. During the annual ceremony, students received a special welcome from university administrators, faculty and student leaders to celebrate their new beginnings at the university.
